Baseball Recap: Siuslaw's Losing Streak Snapped at Six Games

Siuslaw can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Douglas Trojans 8-7. The Vikings' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Joel Sissel and Jacob Mann made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Sissel pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Meanwhile, Mann pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. At the plate, Sissel went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Mann went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Coleman Weidman was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs. Another player making a difference was Maximus Reynolds, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Siuslaw's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-8. As for Douglas, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.

Douglas has already played their next matchup (against Mapleton/Siuslaw), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Siuslaw will be paying especially close attention to the Trojans' contest: after the Trojans face off against the Sailors, they'll take on Siuslaw again at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
