Baseball Game Preview: Merritt Academy Mustangs vs. Fitzgerald Spartans

The Merritt Academy Mustangs will take on the Fitzgerald Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Merritt Academy came up short against Capac on Friday, falling 11-5.

Lucas Hayter made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Goodwin, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Fitzgerald lost 18-8 to Cousino on Saturday.

Dylan Bush led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Fitzgerald is 7-2 when Bush posts two or more runs, but 3-10 otherwise. Dexter Garda was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

Fitzgerald's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Merritt Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-5.
