Cross County is 3-0 against Cozad since December of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Cross County Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Cozad Haymakers at 6:00 p.m. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Last Saturday, everything came up roses for Cross County against Wood River as the team secured a 63-31 win. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 25 points or more this season.

Cross County relied on the efforts of Sawyer Anderson, who went 7 for 8 on his way to 15 points and six assists, and Thatcher Hanson, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 14 points and three steals. That's the most points Hanson has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Brock Allen, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Cozad over Nebraska Christian in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Cozad blew Nebraska Christian out of the water with a 70-25 final score. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Haymakers had established a 43 point advantage.
Cross County better keep an eye on Noah Shoemaker. He was instrumental in Cozad's win, going 10 of 18 on his way to 24 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals. With that strong performance, Shoemaker is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Chayden Hoffmaster, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 15 points.
Cozad's victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.9 points per game. As for Cross County, their record now sits at 5-1.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Cross County and Cozad are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Cross County hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 55.2 points per game. However, it's not like Cozad struggles in that department as they've been averaging 63.5 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Cross County didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Cozad in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 55-49 win. Will Cross County repeat their success, or does Cozad have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
