Basketball Recap: Sayre Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Sayre and Old Forge squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Sayre had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Old Forge Blue Devils, falling 62-31. While losing is never fun, the Redskins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 419th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 78th).

When it comes to explaining why Sayre lost, don't look at Nick Pellicano. Despite the final result, he posted eight points and five boards. Ryan Ressler was another key player, putting up eight points.

Sayre's defeat dropped their record down to 17-10. As for Old Forge, they pushed their record up to 20-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

Sayre does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Old Forge, they will challenge Delaware County Christian on Wednesday. One thing working in Delaware County Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 20 matchups.
