Baseball Recap: Clay Comes Up Short

Clay fell victim to South Webster and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Jeeps by a score of 2-0. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Panthers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Clay has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-7 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.67 runs. As for South Webster, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clay will venture away from home to take on Eastern at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.6 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for South Webster, they will head out on the road to face off against Greenup County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
