Basketball Recap: Rocky Mountain Prep SMART Falls to Arrupe Jesuit in First Game of Season

Rocky Mountain Prep SMART unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a 79-22 loss at the hands of the Arrupe Jesuit Generals. The Ocelotls were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-19.

Arrupe Jesuit's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mario Cabrera, who went 8-for-15 on his way to 17 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Cabrera is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 13 games he's played dating back to last season. Louie Garcia was another key player, dropping a double-double with 17 points and ten steals.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Rocky Mountain Prep SMART will venture away from home to face off against Aurora West College Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Arrupe Jesuit, they will head out to take on Clear Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
