Basketball Game Preview: Logansport Berries vs. McCutcheon Mavericks

The Logansport Berries are taking a road trip to square off against the McCutcheon Mavericks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Logansport is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.5 points per game this season.

Logansport is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They fell 54-46 to Western. While losing is never fun, the Berries can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 288th, while the Panthers are ranked 111th).

Despite their defeat, Logansport saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Chris Anthony Delvalle, who went 5 of 8 en route to 15 points and five assists, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of RJ Clem, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, McCutcheon beat Lafayette Central Catholic 44-39 on Friday. The 44-point effort marked the Mavericks' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

McCutcheon found their leader in sophomore Brody Baker, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 17 points and seven assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Pritzel, who posted seven points and 14 rebounds.

McCutcheon now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Logansport, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

Logansport lost to McCutcheon on the road by a decisive 68-52 margin when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Logansport avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
