Basketball Recap: Augusta Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Augusta took on Newport on Tuesday. The Augusta Panthers received a blow as they fell 40-25 to the Newport Wildcats. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

This is the second loss in a row for Augusta and nudges their season record down to 10-14. As for Newport, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Augusta and Campbell County will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. As for Newport, they will challenge Dayton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
