Palmer Trinity is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will face off against the Ransom Everglades Raiders at 3:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Palmer Trinity lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Somerset Academy (Silver Palms), but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's match. Everything went Palmer Trinity's way against Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) on Friday as Palmer Trinity made off with an 11-1 win. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Michael Miraglia and Tommy Barcinas Jr. did most of the damage at the plate: Miraglia scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2, while Barcinas Jr. scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Miraglia has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Butler, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Palmer Trinity was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .524. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Ransom Everglades made sure to put some runs up on the board against Miami Country Day on Monday. Ransom Everglades put the hurt on Miami Country Day with a sharp 14-6 victory. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Mason Lastra, who fired off two home runs, eight RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Tyler Grossfeld also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Palmer Trinity's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Ransom Everglades, their record now sits at 8-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Palmer Trinity has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Ransom Everglades struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Palmer Trinity came out on top in a nail-biter against Ransom Everglades in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Palmer Trinity since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
