Basketball Recap: Alma Takes a Loss

Alma's game on Tuesday was all tied up 25-25 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a hard 53-38 fall against the Hemlock Huskies. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Huskies apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2017.

Hemlock's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Klaira Salo led the charge by putting up 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Salo is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Carly Siler, who posted 13 points.

Alma's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Hemlock, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-3.

Alma and Hemlock should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. Alma (ranked 93rd) will meet Bridgeport (ranked 300th) at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Hemlock will challenge Ithaca at 5:30 p.m. on Friday up 354 places (123 vs. 477).
