Baseball Recap: Tuba City Wins Going Away Against Monument Valley

Tuba City had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 6-12 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They put the hurt on the Monument Valley Mustangs with a sharp 13-3 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Warriors considering their two-run performance the game before.

Shane Talahytewa was incredible, going 3-for-4 with nine stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Tuba City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monument Valley only managed three hits.

As for Monument Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-18 record this season. Their loss continues a trend for the team, making it six in a row.

On Monument Valley's side, Zephanario Smith made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Roque Todacheene, who earned one run and three stolen bases.

Tuba City didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 17-6 victory against Northland Prep Academy on the 23rd. As for Monument Valley, they will take on Hopi at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
