Basketball Recap: Madison County Takes a Loss

After flying high against Oconee County last Saturday, Madison County came back down to earth. The Madison County Red Raiders took a 59-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Walnut Grove Warriors. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Red Raiders came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while the Warriors are ranked 429th).

Madison County's defeat dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Walnut Grove, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-18.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madison County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against East Forsyth at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Walnut Grove, they will host Cedar Shoals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
