Basketball Recap: Wayne Comes Up Short

Wayne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Draper APA Eagles an easy 73-52 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Badgers have suffered since January 11th.

Despite the loss, Wayne still got an impressive performance from Blake Peterson, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Robins, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Wayne smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Draper APA's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Urban Baldwin, who went 7 of 17 on his way to 16 points in addition to eight assists and seven steals. That's the most steals Baldwin has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Jacobsen, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 16 points and three steals.

Wayne's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Draper APA, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wayne and Tabiona will round out the year against one another at at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wayne has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Draper APA, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against American Leadership Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
