Basketball Recap: Zarron Skubal Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Idalia

Arickaree's game on Friday was all tied up 24-24 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 47-38 win over the Idalia Wolves. For the Bison, this counts as revenge for the 72-64 victory the Wolves walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Arickaree to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zarron Skubal, who went 6 for 7 en route to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Jake King, who posted 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Idalia's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Camden Wingfield, who earned eight points. Those eight points gave Wingfield a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tate Towns, who put up five points and five boards.

Arickaree's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-5. As for Idalia, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arickaree will take on Otis at 8:00 p.m. on February 7th. Otis will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Arickaree surely won't give up without a fight. As for Idalia, they will challenge Bethune at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
