Softball Recap: Marshall Comes Up Short

Port of Los Angeles hit Marshall with a five-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Barristers came up short against the Polar Bears, falling 11-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Barristers of the 9-8 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Gianna Saucedo made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Marshall has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for Port of Los Angeles, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marshall will face off against Bravo at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Barristers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 12.3 runs per game this season. As for Port of Los Angeles, they will take on Garfield at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Polar Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season.
