            Baseball Recap: Plymouth Bobcats vs. ConVal Cougars        
        
		
        
        
            Plymouth fought the good fight in their extra-innings  contest against ConVal  on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of  4-3. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their  loss the last time these teams played  back in April of 2024.
 Luke Diamond was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he  struck out nine batters over  8.1 innings while giving up just one earned  (and three unearned) runs off   three  hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-4 with one  stolen base and one  run.
 In other batting news,  Noah Shaw was cooking despite his team's loss,   going 1-for-4 with one  home run, one  stolen base,  and two  RBI.  Jaxon Rineer was another key player,  going 3-for-4 with two  stolen bases.
Plymouth's defeat was  their third straight at home, which  dropped their record down to 8-9. As for ConVal,  the  win made it two in a row for them and  bumps their season record up to 5-10.
 Looking ahead, Plymouth will take on Souhegan at 4:00  p.m.  on Friday. The Sabers will roll in looking for their  ninth straight  victory, something the Bobcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for ConVal, they will square off against Coe-Brown Academy at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
