Basketball Recap: Coconut Creek Comes Up Short

Coconut Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They were outmatched by the Boyd Anderson Cobras and fell 79-33. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-13.

Despite the defeat, Coconut Creek saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jahvon Jasmin posted 16 points and three steals. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for Jasmin. Anthony Darville also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Even though they lost, Coconut Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. This was only their eighth loss (out of nine games) when they hit their own glass that hard.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Boyd Anderson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Terrence Walker, who went 10 of 12 en route to 24 points. Demarcus Deroche was another key player, going 7 for 10 on his way to 17 points and five steals.

Coconut Creek's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Boyd Anderson, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Coconut Creek didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-39 defeat against Taravella on the 13th. Boyd Anderson has also already played their next contest (against South Broward), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
