Preview: Drew Charter vs. Walker Wolverines

Drew Charter will head out on the road to square off against the Walker Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, Drew Charter beat South Atlanta 67-60.

Meanwhile, Walker had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against Washington by a score of 60-53. Given Walker's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while Washington is ranked 349th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Walker's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Moustapha Diop led the charge by dropping a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. Diop is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Noah Pederson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Drew Charter has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-10 record this season. As for Walker, their win bumped their record up to 15-7.

Drew Charter came up short against Walker when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 59-50. Can Drew Charter avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
