Two dominant backs in Tyler Anderson and Gavin Lusk are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Legacy Lightning will venture away from home to take on the Erie Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Legacy took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They claimed a resounding 41-3 victory over Rangeview at home. The contest marked the Lightning's most dominant win of the season.

Legacy found their leader in underclassman Andrew Gardner, who threw for 184 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Those 96 rushing yards gave Gardner a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anderson, who rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Legacy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 210 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 92 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last four matchups they've averaged 160.2.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Legacy's defense and their six sacks. Rangeview's QB won't forget Joey Vaughan anytime soon given he sacked him three times. Another thorn in Rangeview's side was Jack Boemecke, who picked up a sack and made four total tackles (2.0 for loss) in addition to snagging an interception.

Meanwhile, Erie came tearing into Friday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by the Mustangs on the road to the tune of 48-13. Considering the Tigers have won five matches by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Legacy's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Erie, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.
