Football Recap: Alvin Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Alvin's offense. They were outmatched by the Manvel Mavericks and fell 55-0. The Yellowjackets have struggled against the Mavericks recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Anthony Desanto threw for 38 yards on four of 17 attempts. On the ground, JJ Raasch rushed for 42 yards.

Cam Renfro continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Manvel, rushing for 94 yards and a pair of scores, while also throwing for 146 yards and two touchdowns. Renfro's passing game has become a key predictor of the Mavericks' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Eric Mosley III, who gained 91 total yards and a touchdown.

Alvin's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Manvel, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3.

Coincidentally, Alvin and Manvel will both be playing Dawson the next time they take the field. The Yellowjackets will host the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Mavericks will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st.
