Softball Recap: Fayetteville Snags Ninth Victory in Last 12 Games

Fayetteville's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Autauga Academy Generals, sneaking past 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolves have posted since March 24th.

Lauren Cook spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Charlotte Kelley, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Layken Jones, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Fayetteville has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-14-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Autauga Academy, with the loss, they broke their 15-game winning streak and moved their record to 20-7.

As of now, neither Fayetteville nor the Generals have any future games scheduled.
