Baseball Recap: Rifle Comes Up Short

Rifle extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 8-7 in the process. They came up short against the Summit Tigers, falling 24-14. Even if the Bears couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Rifle saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Remington Decrow, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. Joseph Spritzer was another, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

As for Summit, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The result was nothing new for Summit, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

On Summit's side, they let Hogan Tobias and Matty Misch run wild. Tobias got on base in four of his six plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Misch got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five runs and one RBI. Those five runs gave Misch a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gus Bradford, who went 4-for-6 with two RBI and one run.

Looking ahead, Rifle will challenge Delta at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least ten runs in their last six games. As for Summit, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Glenwood Springs at 4:00 p.m. on the 30th.
