Basketball Recap: Mitchell Comes Up Short

Mitchell came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were beaten by the Falcon Falcons 60-18. The Marauders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-11.

Several Marauders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Delilah Epps, who posted two points and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Epps a new career-high in blocks (two).

Leading Falcon to victory were Alexis Hunter and Amelia Avdem. Hunter scored seven points along with eight boards and four steals, while Avdem went 5 of 8 on her way to 11 points and five rebounds. Hunter has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Elyse Gipson, who put up four points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Mitchell dropped their record down to 3-12 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Falcon, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Mitchell didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 35-21 loss against Sand Creek on the 31st. As for Falcon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 40-39 defeat against Sierra on the 31st.
