The Cedaredge Bruins will venture away from home to challenge the Ignacio Bobcats at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cedaredge's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Ignacio's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Wednesday, Cedaredge made easy work of Center and carried off a 15-8 win. Considering the Bruins have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Zach Mannon looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Rylan Brooks was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. Trenton Ryan was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Ignacio's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 6-2 to Bayfield. Having soared to a lofty 25 runs in the game before, the Bobcats couldn't push the score so high this time.
Ignacio saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was William M, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. M has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
The victory made it two in a row for Cedaredge and bumps their season record up to 15-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Ignacio, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cedaredge has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Ignacio struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Cedaredge was able to grind out a solid victory over Ignacio in their previous matchup back in May of 2021, winning 11-8. Do the Bruins have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bobcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
