Softball Recap: Shadyside Comes Up Short

Shadyside lost against Bridgeport last Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Tigers took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ariana Saxton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Shadyside saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brianna Harris, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Harris snagged this season.

Shadyside now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Bridgeport, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1.

Looking ahead, Shadyside will head out to challenge Beallsville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bridgeport, they will host Frontier at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
