Softball Recap: Bishop Montgomery Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Bishop Montgomery had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They never let the Alliance Bloomfield Bulls get on the board and left with a 17-0 win on Monday. That 17-run margin sets a new team best for the Knights this season.

Sofia Podzimek was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Podzimek was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Bishop Montgomery got a massive performance out of Abigail Green, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs Green has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Addison O'Donaghue, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

Bishop Montgomery always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .703. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Bishop Montgomery's victory bumped their record up to 7-21. As for Alliance Bloomfield, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-5.

Bishop Montgomery does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Alliance Bloomfield, they will head out to challenge Smidt Tech at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Grey Wolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.91 runs per game on average), something the Bulls will no doubt try to take advantage of.
