Baseball Recap: Sonora Gets the Win

Sonora saw some tournament action on Saturday. They skirted past the Marshall Barristers 5-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.

Brandon Leal looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

On the hitting side, Sonora saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Castro, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that Castro has hit this season.

Sonora's win bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Marshall, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.

Sonora didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-6 defeat against St. Paul on the 22nd. As for Marshall, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 5-3 victory against Wilson on the 20th.
