Baseball Recap: Franklin Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Franklin faced off against Benicia on Wednesday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 6-4.

Kyle Pott was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Royal McKinney made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Brandon Williams was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Franklin has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-5 record this season. As for Benicia, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3.

Franklin didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-6 victory against San Marin on the 17th. As for Benicia, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 9-4 defeat against Junipero Serra on the 17th.
