Basketball Recap: ALA - Queen Creek Comes Up Short

ALA - Queen Creek played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 78-49 defeat at the hands of the Higley Knights. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Knights are ranked tenth).

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Layfe Clarkson, who posted 17 points and five boards. Clarkson's evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Austin Fullmer was another key player, putting up 13 points along with six rebounds and five assists.

It was another big night for Noah Gloor, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 24 points and eight assists for Higley. Jon Blaes also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

ALA - Queen Creek's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Higley, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

ALA - Queen Creek didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 69-47 victory against Poston Butte on the 22nd. As for Higley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 85-56 win against Gilbert on the 22nd.
