Basketball Recap: Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cumberland, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They snuck past the Mulberry Grove Aces with a 45-41 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Bobcats as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Despite the loss, Mulberry Grove still got an impressive performance from Jackson Icenogle, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Sugg, who posted seven points and ten rebounds.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Mulberry Grove, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and Mulberry Grove could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City (ranked 659th) will meet Dieterich (ranked 93rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, Mulberry Grove (ranked 467th) will meet Shelbyville (ranked 232nd) at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
