Volleyball Recap: Stanton Comes Up Short

Stanton was the 2-0 winner over Laurel-Concord-Coleridge when they last played one another back in September of 2016, but their luck changed this time around. The Mustangs fell just short of the Bears by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Stanton sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-19, 26-28, 25-19, 23-25, 15-9.

Despite the defeat, Stanton saw an underclassman step up: freshman Hazel Schellpeper had 12 digs. Those 12 digs set a new season-high mark for Schellpeper. Karsyn Dusatko also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Stanton's loss dropped their record down to 23-9. As for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 31-3.

Stanton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, they will square off against Norfolk Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
