Basketball Recap: Fairmont's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

It was a good run, but Fairmont unfortunately witnessed the end of their 16-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 43-33 to the Southeast Alamance Stallions.

Fairmont's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taniya Simms, who posted six points and ten boards. Simms is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in each of the last 13 games she's played. Lyric McNair was another key player, putting up ten points along with five boards and four steals.

Southeast Alamance got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Clara LaChapelle out in front who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Shaniya Paylor, who scored 11 points.

Fairmont's defeat dropped their record down to 24-2. As for Southeast Alamance, they pushed their record up to 27-3 with the win, which was their 14th straight on the road.

As of now, neither Fairmont nor Southeast Alamance have any future games scheduled.
