Anthony Wayne had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They snuck past the Southview Cougars with a 54-49 victory. This was payback for the Generals, who suffered a 60-58 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Anthony Wayne's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zane Kudzia, who shot 67% from the field on his way to 17 points. Another player making a difference was Cole Gast, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten boards.

Looking ahead, Anthony Wayne will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against St. John's Jesuit at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Southview, they will head out to challenge Perrysburg at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
