Pacheco is 1-7 against Beyer since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Pacheco will host Beyer at 4:00 p.m.
Last Thursday, Pacheco didn't have quite enough to beat Ceres and fell 8-6. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly two runs.
Aidan Pikas put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Pikas was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two triples, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.
Pikas wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mario Rivera, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was Rivera's first of the season. Jonathan Shyrock was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Beyer had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Grace Davis by a score of 6-3 on Thursday.
Like Pacheco, Beyer also got a great game from a two-way player: Izaiah Ishihara. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Ishihara also tossed a walk, which is notable because Beyer is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 3-5 otherwise. Ishihara was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases.
In other batting news, Matthew Correia was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Beyer is undefeated when Correia posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise.
This is the second loss in a row for Pacheco and nudges their season record down to 4-9. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only two runs. As for Beyer, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
