Basketball Recap: Adams Central Patriots vs. St. Cecilia Bluehawks
The Adams Central Patriots had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They walked away with a 29-20 win over St. Cecilia. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Adams Central has scored all season.
Despite the loss, St. Cecilia still got an impressive performance from Ryann Sabatka, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds. Avery Kissinger was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, St. Cecilia smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Adams Central is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. As for St. Cecilia, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Adams Central will take on the Stars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Kearney Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday. As for St. Cecilia, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Lincoln Lutheran will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while the Bluehawks are ranked 28th).
