It was a good run, but Goreville unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Trico Pioneers by a score of 7-6. The Blackcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pioneers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Goreville's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-5. As for Trico, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-8.

Looking ahead, Goreville will square off against Waltonville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Trico will be paying especially close attention to the Blackcats' game: after the Blackcats faces off against the Spartans, they'll take on Trico again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
