Preview: King's Academy Knights vs. Marshall Christian Academy Guardians
King's Academy is 0-10 against Marshall Christian Academy since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The King's Academy Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Marshall Christian Academy Guardians at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, King's Academy strolled past Tyler Classical Academy with points to spare, taking the game 55-38.
Evan Hellwig continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 16 points along with six steals and five rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Everett Hollis, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Marshall Christian Academy didn't have too much trouble with Providence Classical Academy on the road on Saturday as they won 64-45. The win was all the more spectacular given Marshall Christian Academy's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 1142nd in Texas, while Providence Classical Academy is ranked 210th in Louisiana).
King's Academy's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-16. As for Marshall Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season.
King's Academy came up short against Marshall Christian Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 50-40. Can King's Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
