Baseball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Kearny's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Kearny lost to Channel Islands on Friday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Komets walked away with a 7-4 win over the Raiders.

The team relied heavily on Nicolas Hembera, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Kearny: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-10 otherwise. DJ Martinez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Kearny has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games.
