McLean comes up short despite Jayvon Salazar's dominant performance

Recap: McLean Tigers vs. Follett Panthers

The McLean Tigers suffered their biggest defeat since December 7, 2023 on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Follett, falling 64-31. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for McLean in their matchups with Follett: they've now lost six in a row.

Despite the loss, McLean still got an impressive performance from Jayvon Salazar, who scored eight points along with 16 rebounds and five steals. Salazar hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. Caleb Steward was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.

Leading Follett to victory were Maddox Miller and David Meeks. Miller scored 22 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Meeks scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Meeks has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryan Torres, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and five steals.

McLean's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Follett, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-7.

McLean will look to defend their home court on Friday against Fort Elliott at 7:30 p.m. As for Follett, they will head out on the road to square off against Lefors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lefors is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
