Softball Game Preview: Roncalli Jets vs. Chilton Tigers

Roncalli hasn't had much luck against Chilton recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Jets will welcome the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Roncalli is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against New Holstein on Tuesday. They lost 21-1 to the Huskies.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Chilton challenged Brillion on Tuesday. The Tigers fell just short of the Lions by a score of 9-8. Even though they lost, the Tigers' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.1 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Chilton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gwendolyn Sell, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Another was Josie Nett, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Chilton has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.33 runs. As for Roncalli, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Roncalli might still be hurting after the 15-9 defeat they got from Chilton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Jets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
