Softball Recap: Grant Park's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Grant Park dropped their record down to 9-6 on Friday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Peotone Blue Devils by a score of 3-1. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Dragons couldn't push the score so high this time.

Reegan Thompson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

As for Peotone, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games.

On Peotone's side, Sophie Klawitter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 17 Ks.

At the plate, Peotone saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Autumn Clay, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Looking ahead, Grant Park will square off against Gardner-South Wilmington at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dragons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Peotone, they will challenge Chicago Christian at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Blue Devils are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
