Basketball Game Preview: Southwestern Heights Mustangs vs. South Gray Rebels

Southwestern Heights hasn't had much luck against South Gray recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Southwestern Heights Mustangs will head out to square off against the South Gray Rebels at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Tuesday, Southwestern Heights got the win against Sublette by a conclusive 53-33. The Mustangs pushed the score to 42-16 by the end of the third, a deficit the Larks cut but never quite recovered from.

Meanwhile, South Gray won against Ashland last Tuesday with 60 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. South Gray claimed a resounding 60-28 victory over South Central. The win continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Timberwolves: they've now won four in a row.

Southwestern Heights better keep an eye on Kylie Stapleton. She was instrumental in South Gray's win, going 5 for 11 on her way to 20 points in addition to six assists and six boards. Reegan Meairs was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Southwestern Heights' record is now 15-3. As for South Gray, their record now sits at 16-1.

Southwestern Heights might still be hurting after the 62-42 defeat they got from South Gray when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Southwestern Heights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
