Softball Recap: Patterson Mill Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Patterson Mill had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Wednesday. They never let the Bohemia Manor Eagles get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. Patterson Mill has seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw Bohemia Manor, too.

Not much got past Lily Baldwin, who gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks to keep Bohemia Manor off the board. Baldwin has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mackenzie Knight was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Ava Ward was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Patterson Mill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive matchups.

Patterson Mill's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Bohemia Manor, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-3.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Patterson Mill is set to face off against their familiar foe C. Milton Wright at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Bohemia Manor will square off against rival Rising Sun at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 3.1, the Tigers 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
