Volleyball Recap: Cary Academy Starts Season with Victory at Home

Cary Academy took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They put the hurt on the Franklin Academy Patriots with a sharp 3-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Chargers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-8, 25-16.

Phoebe Shaughnessy paced Cary Academy's offense, picking up 11 kills. Shaughnessy got some help from April Hou and her 16 assists. Hou also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Sadie Goulding, racking up five apiece.

Franklin Academy dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Cary Academy has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Woods Charter on the 18th. As for Franklin Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Vance Charter on the 18th.
