Volleyball Recap: Cary Academy Starts Season with Win at Home

Cary Academy took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They put the hurt on the Franklin Academy Patriots with a sharp 3-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the Chargers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-8, 25-16.

Phoebe Shaughnessy paced Cary Academy's offense, picking up 11 kills. Shaughnessy got some help from April Hou and her 16 assists. Hou also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Sadie Goulding, racking up five apiece.

Franklin Academy dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Cary Academy will head out to square off against Woods Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Franklin Academy, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Vance Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
