Softball Recap: Hoopeston Takes a Loss

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Hoopeston and Urbana, and Urbana kept the tradition alive. The Cornjerkers lost 15-9 to the Tigers on Friday. The Cornjerkers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Chloe Miller made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Kennedy Wallace also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Hoopeston dropped their record down to 0-5 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Urbana, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Looking ahead, Hoopeston will face off against Westville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The game will give the Cornjerkers their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Urbana, they will head out to face off against Paxton-Buckley-Loda at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
