Baseball Recap: Fernandina Beach Extends Winning Streak to Three

Fernandina Beach had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They blew past the First Coast Buccaneers 11-1. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

Lincoln Pertkiewicz looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Landen Holbrook was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Dalton Janey was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Fernandina Beach's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for First Coast, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-6.

Looking ahead, Fernandina Beach will square off against Baker County at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for First Coast, they will face off against Episcopal School of Jacksonville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
