The Harrisburg Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Anna-Jonesboro Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Anna-Jonesboro took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Harrisburg, who comes in off a win.
Anna-Jonesboro will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Harrisburg extended their winning streak to three on Saturday. The Bulldogs came out on top against Benton by a score of 13-9.
Maddux Smothers made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aidan Hankins, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ian Crabb, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
DuQuoin hit Anna-Jonesboro with a four-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats came up short against the Indians, falling 12-1. The Wildcats have struggled against the Indians recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.
Anna-Jonesboro saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Goins, who went 1-for-2 with one double. Jeffrey Campbell also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Harrisburg pushed their record up to 19-10 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Anna-Jonesboro, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.
Harrisburg beat Anna-Jonesboro 5-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
