Recap: Palisades Pumas vs. Olympic Trojans
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lab University Prep, the Palisades Pumas were happy to have found some success on Friday. They took down Olympic 71-55. Given Palisades' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while Olympic is ranked 406th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Palisades to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kingston Henry, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Dillard, who scored 19 points along with three steals.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was DEANGELO HALL, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals. HALL hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was RICO JACKSON, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Olympic were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palisades only racked up 17 assists.
Palisades' victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-6. As for Olympic, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palisades is on the road again on Friday and play against Marvin Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. As for Olympic, they will take on Myers Park at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Myers Park's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Olympic has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
