Preview: Statesboro Blue Devils vs. Jenkins Warriors
Statesboro has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Jenkins Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Statesboro fell victim to Ware County's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 50-0 loss at the hands of the Gators. While losing is never fun, Statesboro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 226th, while Ware County is ranked 32nd).
Jenkins never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Bradwell Institute last Saturday. They came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 41-33.
Jenkins found their leader in underclassman Domonique Johnson, who rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Joe Polite was another key contributor, rushing for 71 yards and a touchdown.
Statesboro's loss was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 12-2 Dutchtown and 7-2 Burke County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 66.5% over those games). As for Jenkins, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.
